Job Responsibiilities:
1) Develop with Commodity Management the global strategic supplier list that is technically and competitively advanced that it provides an advantage for TE against our competitors.
2) Participate in supplier negotiations and selection with Commodity Management
3) Maintain and improve TE’s materials selection database
4) Create and maintain supplier expectations and specifications
5) Function as the technical expert between engineering and purchasing on cable and electronics related issues such as part qualification, quality, delivery, cost, and development
6) Drive new engineering electrical supplier development with a focus on Low Cost Country (LCC) -based suppliers
7) Ensure lowest upfront cost by aiding in supplier and technical selection
8) Complete Value Stream Mapping activity within a region
9) Work closely with Technical Lead peers in other regions to ensure the sharing of best-practices
10) Participate in a Global Commodity Team including periodic report-outs of progress versus goals
11) Drive innovation and building supplier strategic relationships
12) Identify and implement cost savings opportunities by supporting Global Commodity Managers
13) Work with the Global Commodity BU leads to support supplier negotiation strategies
14) New supplier development including audit reviews for quality, service, and social responsibility
15) Help create and maintain the corporate strategy
16) Knowledge of supplier roadmap and analyze / influence fit with TE new product roadmap
17) Support negotiations with required background information (cost expertise, supplier benchmark,…)
Requirements:
1) Direct experience working at large electronic company (10 years minimum) Motivated employee who is not afraid to challenge company "norms" and push for change
2) Ability to speak persuasively in front of a large audience, members of which may be executive level colleagues
3) An employee who not only understands the technical aspect of TE’s business, but also the commercial purchasing side
4) Must work well in international teams with members from a wide array of functional backgrounds
5) A electronic based background with experience in engineered materials (e.g. IC’s, cables, passives, PCBA, PCB’s) is preferred. Experience in connector design also desirable.
6) Time zone flexibility and an ability to travel (e.g. 10% globally and regionally)
7) English language skills in speech and writing
8) Completed, accredited 4-year university degree with an Electrical Engineering degree preferred. MBA or Masters in Engineering is a plus.
9) Computer knowledge: MS-Office, Access is desirable
