• Directs and manages Engineer Team (EE/ ME/ tool shop total around 40 ppl)
• Drives the coordination between Engineer Team and other function teams.
• Accountable for meeting NPI timelines, quality and customer expectation
• Applies DFMEA process in NPI process and builds knowledge database to standardize best design practice
• Has knowledge in materials that applied in products , such as plastic, fabric, electronic components … etc
• Mentors and coaches Engineering Team members
• Works closely with QA to stay in alignment with resolving technical issues on products or performance
• Works with outside consultants when necessary to support engineering and testing projects outside scope of internal team skillsets
• Drives ideation sessions and critiques, internal team and cross-functional brainstorms
• Identifies, investigates and adapts tools and techniques for product and process improvements
• Takes ownership of team processes while continuously searching for improvements in efficiency and quality
• Monitors resource utilization and maintain efficient department operation
• Conducts KPI performance review of team members
• Communicates project status and resource capacity to Business Units
• Works with team members to identify educational and professional development opportunities and plans their development
• Manages functional department’s yearly budget
• Works with Leadership across disciplines to drive brand growth through design and development
• Works closely with Project Management Team and Sales Team to fulfill customer needs
• Strong verbal, written and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and professionally
• Solid experience on leading a big team, technical background and knows well of ME/EE function.
• Excellent analytical ability with a passion for world class product development
• Skilled at prioritizing tasks and managing timelines
• Ability to work accurately with close attention to detail
• Strong interpersonal skills at working effectively with individuals and large groups (internal and external) at all organizational levels
• Habit of taking the initiative and the ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Able to effectively utilize appropriate management reporting tools to ensure attainment of all product category objectives
• Respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
• Advanced knowledge of product manufacturing including: plastic injection molding, metal forming, SMT, DFM/ DFA
• 10+ years of experience as a practicing Engineer of consumer electronic/ lighting products
• 5+ years leading a Team Engineers (lighting products preferred)
• Confidence working with, and presenting to internal and external clients
• Direct experience communicating directly with Production Engineers & customers
